I ordered the cards the way I would teach a friend: survive Boot Camp, learn wishes, then fishing, then the dark key that fishing feeds.

Reading order

Start with the beginner page if the hub NPCs are still unnamed. Open wishes if you are holding orbs from Morvik or fishing. Open pages-and-books if your inventory is full of pages. Open dark key only after fishing makes sense.
